Christmas is almost upon us, time to find the best winter coffee. Now everyone has there different opinions about which coffee they like best but, this post will be based on battle of CostaBucks and the magical gingerbread latte.
As you may be able to tell, the gingerbread latte is my favourite winter coffee. But the question is, What shop sells the best one? For me, it is down to two, 'Costa Coffee' and 'Starbucks Coffee'.
vs
Pricing:
Now Starbucks and Costa aren't the most cheapest of places to get just a coffee, but I think the christmas spirit has hit them because the prices aren't actually that bad! You can grab yourself a gingerbread latte from Starbucks for about £2.52 ($3.75) to about £3.19 ($4.75). To my surprise, it's cheaper than Costa! From Costa you're looking to spend about £2.75 ($4.09) to £3.45 ($5.13). That's one point to Starbucks!
Taste:
Starbucks was the first gingerbread latte I tasted and my golly gosh was that TASTY! It tasted like a liquefied gingerbread man but not in a horrible way before you all start thinking of melting gingerbread men because the point I'm trying to get across is that it was the right amount of gingerness to taste like a gingerbread man not to much not to little, but it also depends whether you you like strong tasting things or light tasting things. The coffee is presented to you (what I got) in a christmassy red paper cup with a mountain of whipped cream at the top and a nice dusted sugar coating. Then you will find within, the mouth watering gingerbread coffee (YUMMY IN MY TUMMY).
Costa's coffee looked so yummy in the picture but was not presented to me like it looked,
A) It's supposed to come in a christmassy cup (it did not)
B) It's supposed to come with a gingerbread man on top of the whipped cream (it did not)
C) It's supposed to come with a good amount of whipped cream (it did not!)
So over all the presentation was a let down as I was looking forward to taking a picture of it for my Instagram but it was never meant to be :(.
But it was a lovely coffee. However, it wasn't as strong tasting as the Starbucks one. So it depends if you want a strong or weak coffee. With me, I'll sometimes get a headache as I'm not good with strong tasting and smelling things. But then again, sometimes I don't.
Overall ....
Starbucks presentation and strong taste and the fact it costs less than Costa is better but on the other hand, if money is no object to you then by all means, try the Costa coffee. but you may find that the presentation isn't always up to standard every time you go to get one and the gingerness is not as strong. It all comes down to whether or not you like strong tasting coffees or not but I will say now, the Starbucks one isn't over powering, it's just a lot stronger than Costa, that's all.I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
